Sathren Whitfield, Executive Receptionist
One of the most recognizable faces around the Casino is Sathren Whitfield, Executive Receptionist. She’s well known among the executive leadership, among front-line team members and everyone in between. You can count on Sathren for knowing just about everything at the Casino and serving as a reference point for anyone who has a question, is looking for directions or is in need of an update.
Sathren began her employment at PBC in May 1999 in the Security department. Though she enjoyed her position, she moved into the Executive department in 2001 to pursue a new challenge. Now, eight years later, she is still enjoying her job as the Executive Receptionist.
Sathren is a person who keeps herself busy. She has specific tasks that she accomplishes each day, including prepping the conference rooms for scheduled meetings throughout the day, delivering newspapers, organizing the Executive Suite, making coffee (a crucial component in the office), distributing contracts, filing and ordering supplies. It is Sathren, who essentially keeps the wheels turning in the Executive Office.
Each day is a new adventure for Sathren, who likes the spontaneity her job offers. Though her daily task list is long, she often lends a helping hand whenever she sees that she is needed. For instance, if a committee or a department needs help assembling informational packets for a meeting, Sathren can be counted on to step up and help out in a pinch. According to Executive Assistant Miranda Villa, “Sathren does not hesitate to interrupt her current activity to walk a lost and wandering team member to their desired location.”
Though Sathren admits she misses working face-to-face with guests on the gambling floor, she fully appreciates working closely with all of the departments as well as the flexibility her schedule now allows her. She fills her extra time with coordinating numerous FCPC Foundation walks, serves as a Miracle on Canal Street ambassador, is an integral part of the Culture Committee and has enjoyed volunteering for the Hunting Moon Pow Wow and other casino events.
Part of the reason Sathren has been so successful in her position is because of her positive attitude and her smiling face. She has made it a point to try to get to know everyone, which is quite a feat considering there are more than 2,600 team members who work at PBC. Though things are constantly changing at the Casino, Sathren is a great example of someone who works hard and takes great pride in herself and her work.
“She makes the Executive Suite a warm and inviting place,” said Miranda. “Her gracious manner and patient demeanor leave a lasting impression with whomever she encounters.”
