Team Member of the Month – July 2008

Jennifer Jones, Cage Supervisor

From the moment you meet Jennifer Jones, Cage Supervisor, you will feel at ease. She’ll greet you with a smile and you’ll immediately pick up on her positive attitude and lighthearted spirit.

These characteristics are just part of the reason why she was chosen as July’s Team Member of the Month. Jennifer began her employment with Potawatomi Bingo Casino in May 2004, after she briefly visited the Casino.

“I’m from Chicago and I wasn’t a gambler,” Jennifer shared. “I came here once and had a great experience. It’s an exciting atmosphere and the staff was courteous and outgoing. I started three weeks later and couldn’t be happier. What’s not to like about working at Potawatomi Bingo Casino?”

In her time here, Jennifer has worked in both the Cage and Housekeeping department, just recently completing her first 90 days as a cage supervisor. As a cage supervisor, Jennifer is charged with ensuring that operations go smoothly during her shift. She works closely with cashiers and main bankers to make sure that they have everything they need to do their job. Duties include relieving team members for breaks and cashing out jackpots and Easy Pay tickets. The Cage also now replenishes blackjack tables with chips when they are running low.

“I love working in the fast paced environment of the Cage. When we’re busy, it’s an adrenaline rush and the day flies by,” she said.

Jennifer believes that teamwork is critical to the Casino’s success. She leads by example, by taking the initiative to jump in wherever she’s needed and by helping out in other cages when her cage is running smoothly. She is also a strong advocate of keeping a positive attitude and explained, “Negative energy brings everyone down. It makes me feel great when I can bring a smile to a guest’s face and turn their day around.”

When Jennifer was told about being chosen as Team Member of the Month she was overwhelmed and thankful. She attributes much her success to great management and a great team. She’s optimistic about the working environment here and said, “It’s a great time to work here. There is so much room for team members to learn and to advance themselves. I know I’ll be here for a very long time!”

While she’s busy building her career, Jennifer is also making strides in her personal life. She couldn’t be prouder of the life she is building for herself and her young daughter that her world revolves around.
